Emiliana Coyam 2013

I loved the nose and the balance of the 2013 Coyam. In that cool vintage it was a blend of 48% Syrah, 24% Carménère, 11% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Mourvèdre, 3% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot. It mixes cool and warm climate characteristics and grapes and comes through as both powerful and balanced. The […]

Emiliana Coyam 2011

Give this time in the glass and its oak notes begin to diminish as the ripe black fruit gains prominence. This is biodynamically grown, a luscious blend of Syrah, Carmenere, Merlot and Cabernet, with hints of Mourvedre and Malbec, a warm red for meats slow roasted over a campfire on a cool summer night. (February […]

Emiliana Coyam 2010

After a foxy, jumpy smelling bouquet with animal fur aromas and minerality, this six-grape blend settles and shows its better colors, namely ripe baked-fruit flavors, a whack of oaky vanilla and lastly a modest, smooth finish with just enough acidity to provide kick and pizzazz. Give this blocky, full-bodied blend time in the glass and […]

The purple-colored 2009 Coyam Red Blend is composed of 41% Syrah, 29% Carmenere, 20% Merlot, with the balance Mourvedre and Petit Verdot. It was native yeast fermented and aged for 14 months in French and American oak. Notions of sandalwood, dried herbs,  meat, underbrush, blueberry, and blackberry lead to a full-bodied, voluptuous, concentrated wine with […]

Emiliana Coyam 2008

As blends go, this is a winner. The nose is spicy and wild, with blackberry, cola, fine leather and earthy qualities. Lush and concentrated in the mouth, with meaty, herbal flavors of cola and blackberry. Toast and pepper notes lend darkness to the finish, and overall this is a grand, ripe thoroughbred made from six […]
