2012 Pacific Rim Dry Riesling, Columbia Valley ($10): This wine and two companions (a regular 2012 Riesling, $10, and a 2012 Sweet Riesling, $10) are exciting with real personality. All three display varying degrees of slate notes, earthy-ness, and a bit of complexity from lees aging. The wines, all screwcapped, are fresh and appealing, and improve with a bit of aeration, indicating they will be more complex in a year. Wine maker Nicolas Quille is on a roll.
