Refosco is another name for Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso and Refosco Nostrano. Also called Cagnina in Emilia Romagna. Earliest reference to the grape appears in 1409 at a banquet given by Pope Gregory XII.

Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso is a red grape of Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Veneto. It takes its name “peduncolo rosso” from the red color of its vinestalks. Sometimes referred to as Refosco.
