This red varietal is used in the production of some of the Veneto’s finest red wines (also known as Corvina Veronese or Cruina).  Corvina is said to take its name from the fact that the character (bright and lively) and the color of the grape (very dark) reminded people of a Corvo (crow) hence the name, the little crow. Some suggest the name could also come from the local dialect cruina which means unripe.
