Mid-hill vineyards of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Alluvial soil with morainal rocky debris.
The two grapes are harvested at the same time, which makes for a super-ripe Merlot since the Refosco ripens
later. A slow maceration produces excellent color. One third of the wine matures in oak barrels, and the
other two thirds in stainless for about 4 to 6 months. This preserves the fruit character of the grapes, while gaining structure and complexity from the oak. A small period of bottle aging follows.
Color: Intense red in color, leaning towards ruby.
Bouquet: Hints of herbs complemented by aromas of woodland fruits from the Refosco.
Taste: Black fruit and berry flavors with hints of toast.
Excellent with roasted meat or fish entrees, savory pasta dishes, aged cheeses, and cured meats.
Made with organically grown grapes.
