Castello Banfi Poggio alle Mura 2007 Brunello di Montalcino DOCG

The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino Poggio alle Mura blasts across the palate with a heady array of black cherries, camphor, licorice and spices. The wine possesses gorgeous depth and inner sweetness in a plush, inviting style with plenty of early appeal. An explosive finish rounds things out in style. The Poggio alle Mura was aged in 350-liter barrels. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025. Banfi continues to step up their game with the 2007 Brunelli, the first wines made with a new approach to small-lot vinification that seeks to get the best out of the 47 Sangiovese parcels the estate owns. – A.G.
